The Wirral Domestic Abuse Hub provides support for:

• adults experiencing domestic abuse
• children and young people affected by domestic abuse
• families impacted by domestic abuse
• people who want support to change harmful behaviours

We work with local services to help people stay safe, recover from abuse and access the support they need.

Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) service

Our Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs) are specially trained professionals who support people at high risk of domestic abuse.

Your IDVA will:

• work with you to understand your situation
• help you create a safety plan
• support you to access services and practical help
• explain your options
• support you through the criminal justice process
• work with partner agencies on your behalf

You will have one IDVA who will support you throughout your journey.

Early Intervention Team

Our Early Intervention Team includes:

• domestic abuse workers
• police community support officers
• a counsellor
• a reducing parental conflict worker

The team provides support through:

• one-to-one appointments
• practical advice
• emotional support
• group programmes

They can also help families understand and navigate:

• criminal justice processes
• family court proceedings
• local support services

Legal support

We offer access to 30 minutes of free legal advice through Morecrofts Solicitors.

Advice is available on:

• non-molestation orders
• child arrangements and contact
• separation and divorce
• financial matters
• other family law issues

Appointments are available on Thursday afternoons and must be booked in advance.

Appointments can take place:

• face to face
• by telephone

Counselling

We have a qualified counsellor who provides one-to-one counselling for people affected by domestic abuse.

Counselling can help you:

• understand the impact of abuse
• process difficult experiences
• improve emotional wellbeing
• build confidence and resilience

Behaviour change support

We offer support for people who want to change harmful or abusive behaviour.

Our behaviour change workers provide:

• one-to-one support
• practical interventions
• guidance to help develop healthier relationships
• support to understand the impact of abusive behaviour on others

The service aims to help people take responsibility for their actions and make positive, lasting changes.

Who's in Charge?

A programme for parents whose child is:

• abusive towards them
• violent towards them
• difficult to manage safely at home

The programme helps parents:

• understand behaviour
• set healthy boundaries
• build confidence
• reduce feelings of isolation
• learn practical strategies

The programme runs over several weeks and includes follow-up support.
